WW2 & GSM Group (Clasp Palestine 1945-49), R.E.M.E - Named To Younger

3 Month(s) Left
Price: £180.00

An interesting combination of medals awarded to 19100469 Corporal F. Younger of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME). Given this combination I take it that Younger (from South Shields) must have undertaken some civic duty during WW2 at a young age (possibly Home Guard) and then joined the REME, serving in Palestine during the ‘emergency’ which was also known as the ‘Jewish insurgency in Mandatory Palestine’ (details of which can be viewed by clicking on here).

The history of the REME can be viewed by clicking on here.

The details of his awards are as follows:

Defence Medal unnamed as issued.

General Service Medal 1918 - 1962 (clasp PALESTINE 1945-49) named to 19100469 CPL. F. YOUNGER. R.E.M.E.

Queen Elizabeth II Coronation Medal 1953 unnamed as issued.

Further details of WW2 medal award criteria, can be viewed by clicking on here and scrolling to the relevant medal entry, the Genera Service Medal award criteria can be viewed by clicking on here.

The medals are swing mounted and come with their original ribbons, along with a matching set of contemporary miniature medals which are also swing mounted with original ribbons. This listing also includes the original boxes of issue for the Coronation Medal and GSM, (which contain Youngers’ details and a letter from the REME Records Office confirming his award). I have undertaken no further research in regards to this man.

Price £180 - please read the terms and conditions below.
