Born Blatchington Court, Seaford, Sussex 1875.
Educated Lynam's school, Oxford.
Entered the Navy 1888, Commande HMS St Vincent at the Battle of Jutland 1916. Became Director of the anti-submarine division. 1926 saw him as Director of Naval Intelligence joining The Board of Admiralty as fourth sea lord. Promoted Admiral 1932.
During the King's Birthday Parade, Southsea Common, he collapsed dying a few days later. He was buried at sea with full naval honours.
