R.N.), British War Medal, Victory Medal, (170911 W.J. RATHMELL. C.P.O. R.N.), Royal Victorian Medal Edw7, bronze issue, Royal Navy Long Service and Good conduct Medal Edw7, (170911 W.J. RATHMELL. P.O. 1 CL. H.M.S. HINDUSTAN.).

Born 1877 in Portsea.
1892 joins Royal Navy as a Boy 2nd Class.
1894 becomes Boy 1st Class, latterly Ordinary Seaman.
1901 promoted to Leading Seaman rated as Seaman Gunner.
1902 Promoted to Petty Officer 2nd Class.
1904 Promoted to Petty Officer 1st Class rated as Acting Captain of the Gun.
1907 to Hindustan.
1909 awarded his LSGC.
1910 one of the Bluejackets in the gun carriage party at the funeral of Edward the 7th.
1915 promoted to Acting Chief Petty Officer.
1916 joins the Fleet Reserve.
1917 joins the Termagrant.
1918 takes part in the blocking of Zeebrugge.
1919 D.S.M. announced in the London Gazette for services in Destroyers of the Dover Patrol 1st July to 11th November 1918. Then Demobilised
1927dies at home Hemingford Grey, Huntingdon.
