British War Medal, Mercantile Marine War Medal, (WILLIAM J. BORLACE.), Royal Navy Long Service & Good Conduct Medal QV, (W.J. BORLACE. COMD. BOATN. H.M. COAST GUARD.).

Born 1853 in Plymouth.
1869 Joins Royal Navy as a Boy.
1873 Joins Torch as a Boy 1st Class then as Ordinary Seaman posted to Pheasant.
1874 Posted back to Torch as an Able Seaman.
1875 to Iron Duke then to Royal Adelaide. Gunnery Scholl on Cambridge.
1876 Rated as Seaman gunner.
1877 to Agincourt.
1879 Returns to Cambridge and rated as Seaman Gunner 1st Class.
1881 to Valiant then transfers to the Coastguard serving at Kells, dingle Bay, Co. Kerry.
1885 to Claggan Co. Donegal then to the Shannon, Bantry Bay.
1891 to Portnoo, co. Donegal.
1893 to Marchwood, Southampton Water.
1894 to Newhaven District as Commissioned Boatman, then to Aberfield Point, Isle of Wight.
1896 traced for his LSGC Medal. To Woolston, Southampton.
1897 Pensioned to Shore.
1914-18 Serves in the Mercantile Marine.
1931 dies at home, 32 Weston Grove Road, Woolston, Southampton.
