Born 1898 in Bombay, India.
1917 Temporary Probationary Flight Officer R.N.A.S. then Midshipman R.N.V.R.
1918 On Magic off coast of Ireland when she struck a mine off Fanad Head. James was wounded and later discharged receiving a Silver War Badge.
1939 recalled to service serving on Vernon, Sandhurst, Port Napier, Trelawny, Welshman, Port Quebec and Shrapnel up to 1944. Retires with the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
1977 Dies in Burgess Hill, West Sussex.
