Samuel Frederick Long,
(1888-1964).

1914-15 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal, (E.S. 1509. S.F. LONG.ENGN. R.N.R.), with Box of Issue, 1914-15 Star Trio Award Slip, Protection Certificate, Original Photograph.

Born 1888 in Oulton, near Lowestoft.
1909 listed on Young Bert.
1914 joins the Trawler Section of the Royal Naval Reserve on the Rooke.
1916 on Rooke when she is sunk in a collision but he survives.
1919 discharged from Ceto and serves on various vessels up to 1939, leaving Lowestoft due to air raids he moves to Peterborough working in a Torpedo factory.
1946 returns to Lowestoft becomes a boilerman at the gas works.
1953 during the floods he is the last man to leave the gas works and escapes on a tree trunk to dry land.
1964 dies registered in Lothingland district, buried Lowestoft.
