Frederick was born 1895 in Halesowen and enlisted in the Royal Navy 1912. On board H.M.S. Zulu when she was struck by a mine near Dunkirk sinking half the ship the remainder towed to Chatham where she was joined to the remains of the Nubian being re-named H.M.S. Zubian. After the War whilst serving on H.M.S. Raleigh he was a survivor of the running aground of this vessel in 1922. Discharged in 1923 and enlists in the R.A.F. as an Instructor. Leaving in 1925. Enlisted in the Royal Fleet Reserve in 1924 being awarded his Long Service Medal 1930 leaving the service in 1935.
Frederick died in Birmingham 1976.
