William Wigham Howe enlisted into the Royal Warwickshire Regiment being promoted to 2nd Lieutenant the York and Lancaster Regiment 29 August 1917, Lieutenant 1.3.1919, Captain 22.9.1919, relinquished 7.11.1919 ceasing to command a Company.
William served with the 1/4th Battalion the York & Lancaster Regiment.
Twice wounded in action during World War 1.
Re-enlisted as 103915 Lieutenant 21.10.1939 Royal Army Ordnance Corps Late York & Lancaster Regiment. Promoted to Captain.
William died at home, reason un-known 23.2.1942 aged 50. He is buried with Military Honour in Darlington West Cemetery CWGC grave also has his wife Ethel Irene buried with William, an unusual circumstance.
William was a native of Sunderland. Research included along with photocopy photo, newspaper copies etc.
