A 1914 Mons Star with clasp awarded to L/14566, Private William Thomas Robinson who served with the 1st Battalion (The ‘Die-Hard’s’), the Duke of Cambridge's Own (Middlesex) Regiment.

Robinson arrived in France on 11/08/14, the Medal Index Card and the medal roll confirming the clasp can be viewed by clicking on here and on here, (if you have access to Ancestry), although a paper copy of the MIC will be provided with this listing.

The details of his award are as follows:

1914 Star (with Mons clasp) named to L-14566, PTE W. T. ROBINSON. 1/MIDDX:R.


I have not been able to locate any service records related to this man. However, his Medal Index Card makes reference to him being ‘DIS’, and a Silver War Badge reference for him can be viewed by clicking on here, (again if you have access to Ancestry) which shows that he enlisted in April 1914 and was discharged in April 1916 due to wounds.

He also features on the 1939 Register.

By October 1914, the 1st Battalion, the Duke of Cambridge's Own (Middlesex) Regiment were a part of the 19th Light Infantry Brigade (assigned to the 6th Division) and were actively involved in the Battle of Mons. The actions and activities of the Brigade can be viewed by clicking on here.
