Born 1862 at Lewes.
1873 educated at Malvern College.
1875 Enter Royal Navy as a Cadet.
1876 Midshipman on Alexandra.
1879 to Bacchante.
1882 to Temeraire as a Sub Lieutenant. Takes part with the Naval Brigade at Battle of Tel-El-Kebir.
1895 Appointed Commander on Blenheim.
1901 Promoted to Captain.
1909 Reprimanded by Courts martial.
1911 Promoted tp Rear Admiral.
1914 in command of 5th Battle Squadron.
1916 Appointed Vice Admiral.
1919 Promoted to Admiral and placed on retired List.
1936 Dies in Brighton.
