Price: £25.00

A Victory Medal awarded to T2809, (later 532503) Corporal Thomas Diplock, who served with the Royal Engineers. According to his Medal Index Card and his Medal Roll details which can be viewed by clicking on here and on here he was also awarded the British War Medal.

Sadly, neither Diplock's Medal Index Card or Medal Roll give any indication as to when he arrived in France, and I have been unable to locate and service records relating to this man. However, there is a reference to him which can be viewed by clicking on here which indicates that he was treated at the 31st Ambulance Train on the 25th October 1918 for a gun-shot wound.

This reference indicates that he was serving with the 217th Army Troop Company Royal Engineers.

Earlier in the year, the 217th AT Company were 'drafted' into what was known as 'Carey's Brigade' which prevented a breakthrough of the German forces to Amiens in the Second Battle of the Somme, the details of this action and of General Carey can be viewed by clicking on here and on here.

The details of his award are as follows:

Victory Medal named to 532503 CPL. T. C. DIPLOCK. R.E.
