A collection of medals that were sourced from the same family location, named or attributed to Davies. The collection is made up of the following medal groups:-

William Owen Davies:

William Owen served with the Royal Field Artillery during WW1. His medal Index Card can be viewed by clicking on here, (if you have access to Ancestry although a paper copy will be provided with this listing). His MIC gives no indication as to where he served, neither does his medal roll entry which can be viewed by clicking on here, (again if you have access to Ancestry), although both confirm that the single British War Medal was his only award.

I have not been able to locate any service records related to this man, and I have no information regarding his WW2 service.

The details of his awards are as follows:

British War Medal named to 214764 DVR. J. O. DAVIES. R. A.

British War Medal unnamed as issued.

Defence Medal unnamed as issued.

The medals are swing mounted with original ribbons and come with a matching set of contemporary miniature medals.

John Davies:

John also served with the Royal Field Artillery during WW1, and again like the group previously mentioned, neither his Medal Index Card, or the medal roll, give any indication as to where he served. They can both be viewed separately by clicking on here and on here, (again if you have access to Ancestry - a paper copy of the MIC will be provided with this listing).

Equally, I have not been able to locate any service records related to this man, but this medal group came with a Home Guard lapel pin so I’ve assumed that was the reason for the award of the WW2 era Defence Medal.

The details of his awards are as follows:

British War Medal and Victory Medal named to 155231 GNR. J. DAVIES. R. A.

Defence Medal unnamed as issued.

Further details of WW2 medal award criteria, can be viewed by clicking on here and scrolling to the relevant medal entry.

The medals are swing mounted with their original ribbons and come with a matching set of contemporary miniature medals and the aforementioned Home Guard lapel pin.

Edward L. Davies:

Edward served with the Special Constabulary, the award criteria for this medal can be viewed by clicking on here. The details of his award are as follows:

Special Constable Long Service Medal named to EDWARD L. DAVIES

The medal is loose with its original ribbon and in its original box of issue.

W. Davies:

This is a group of WW2 medals attributed to a Mr W. Davies, and they were posted to him in an Admiralty Medal Box to an address which reads as ‘Primrose Villa’, Meadows Road, Cross Hands, Nr Llanelly South Wales. I have undertaken no further research into this man.

The details of his awards are as follows:

1939-45 Star unnamed as issued.

Atlantic Star unnamed as issued.

Burma Star unnamed as issued.

British War Medal unnamed as issued.

Further details of WW2 medal award criteria, can be viewed by clicking on here and scrolling to the relevant medal entry.

The medals come loose with their original ribbons within their original box of issue along with an Admiralty Medal Award slip noting that 4 awards were issued.

Accompanying all of these groups, are a large number of family photographs which came with the medals, a number showing solders dressed in RFA uniforms, and a quantity of naval photographs (again men in uniforms and additional ones showing ship born activities) along with a large quantity which show various locations in India and the far east, which probably explains the Burma Star.
