WW2 Casualty Group, Royal Engineers - Named To Hill
A WW2 medal group awarded to 2122837, Driver Edward George Hill, who served with the Royal Engineers, who died of wounds on the 6th March 1945, only a couple of months before the end of the war in Europe.
His Commonwealth War Graves Index entry can be viewed by clicking on here. He is laid to rest at the Birmingham Handsworth Cemetery.
Edward George Hill was born on the 23rd October 1912, and lived and worked as a Motor Driver in Birmingham, he shared a house with his Wife, Father and Mother in Hunters Road, Birmingham, their details can be found on the 1939 Register and can be viewed by clicking on here, (if you have a subscription to ‘find my past’).

He was clearly not a career soldier and must have joined up at the start of the war, and took his occupation into the services.
