1899 sails to South Africa.
1900 returns to Plymouth.
1901 rated as a Seaman Gunner.
1904 promoted to Leading Seaman.
1906 purchases his discharge and joins the Royal Fleet Reserve.
1914 re-called for service joins Goliath takes part in the action against the Konigsberg.
1915 to Hyacinth.
1916 wounded in action while serving on Echo 11.4.16.
1918 to Macedonia.
