Harry Shrubsole,
(1871-1949).

1914-15 Star (LT. COMMR. H. SHRUBHOLE. R.N.R.).

Born in Sherness 1871.
1896 Merchant Navy serving on various ships.
1901 commissioned Sub Lieutenant in the Royal Naval Reserve.
1910 moves to the retired list and takes up work for The Shipwrecked Mariners Society, he becomes a huge fund raiser for them.
1914 volunteers back to service whereupon he was placed in charge of minesweeping duties at the mouth of the Tyne, ending his wartime career at HMS Attentive.
1925 receives his Royal Naval Reserve Decoration.
1939 living in Bedford Harry becomes a Special Constable and serves with them throughout the war. It was noted that he managed to serve on board the MFV 1058 for 30 days.
1948 Admiralty finds him unfit for further services.
Throughout his life Harry had been associated with the Shipwrecked Mariners Society and it was a sad loss to them when Harry died in 1949.
