1938 Volunteers for the Royal Navy and given the number C/JX 158555.
1939 on board the Calcutta.
1940 part of Sickle Force, Norway.
Evacuation of Dunkirk.
1941 joins the Boadicea on escort duties in the Atlantic.
1942 convoy duty Russian convoy's.
To the Waveney.
1943 appointed Petty Officer. On the epic Convoy Battle HX 229A. He then goes to the Virago and the sinking of the Scharnhorst, Virago claimed 2 hits on her.
1944 takes part in the Normandy Landings.
1945 off to Burma and the Battle of the Malacca Straits, During the battle whilst operating the Bofors gun in action with enemy aircraft when he was wounded in the face, hurt certificate issued.
1946 on Minesweeping duties.
1947 purchases his discharge and enrols in the Royal Fleet Reserve.
1952 during the Korean War attends gunnery course.
1957 discharged surplus to complement.
1996 dies at Southend-on-Sea.
