Price: £125.00

A WW1 medal group awarded to 89509, Battery Sergeant Major (later Warrant Officer), Walter John Hook, who served with the Royal Field Artillery.

According to Hook’s Medal Index Card which can be viewed by clicking on here, (if you have access to Ancestry, although a paper copy will be provided with this listing), he arrived in Egypt with the Egyptian Expeditionary Force (EEF) on 1/7/15.

The details of his awards are as follows:

1914-15 Star named to 89509. B.S.MJR. W. J. HOOK, R.F.A.

British War Medal and Victory Medal named to 89509 W.O.CL.2. W. J. HOOK.R.A.

The medals are supplied loose, with replacement ribbons along with a set of contemporary miniature medals, and a photo of Crook in uniform.

FURTHER DETAILS:

Hook’s medal roll details which can be viewed by clicking on here and on here, (again if you have access to Ancestry), note that he served with the 397th Battery RFA, but it’s not clear which Brigade this is with.

I have been unable to locate any service records relating to this man, but given that he was awarded a Silver War Badge, which can be viewed on Ancestry by clicking on here, this details the fact that he enlisted in August 1914 and served until being discharged due to sickness in June 1919.

Further details regarding the Egyptian Expeditionary Force (EEF), can be viewed by clicking on here.

Price £125 - please read the terms and conditions below.
