The details of his award are as follows:

1914 Star (with Mons clasp) named to 3-6836, L.CPL. D. QUINN. 2/A.& S. HIGHRS

FURTHER DETAILS:

Quinn’s service records can be viewed by clicking on here, if you have access to ‘find my past’. In summary, he enlisted into the 3rd Reserve (training) Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders in November 1913 and was posted to France with the 2nd in November 1914 and served with the battalion until August 1915 when he returned to the 3rd and was returned to the UK probably either injured or due to sickness.

In March 1917 he was transferred to the Labour Corps (with service number 449936) and returned to France, where he remained for the duration of the war until he was discharged in March 1919.

It would appear that after the war he re-enlisted and served with the Northumberland Fusiliers and the Highland Light Infantry - reference to this are shown in his service records and on his Medal Index Card.

By October 1914, the 2nd Battalion, Princess Louise's (Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders) were a part of the 6th Infantry Division, the actions and the activities of the Division can be viewed by clicking on here.
