1914 Mons Star With Bar, Dragoon Guards - Named To Cook
A 1914 Mons Star with clasp awarded to 6410, Private George Cook who served with the 2nd Dragoon Guards (The Queen's Bays).
Cook arrived in France on 16/08/14, the Medal Index Card and the medal roll confirming the clasp can be viewed by clicking on here and on here, (if you have access to Ancestry), although a paper copy of the MIC will be provided with this listing.

I have not been able to trace any service records related to this man, but reviewing Cooks service number, he will have enlisted between 1903 and 1906. His Medal Index Card does reference that he was discharged in August 1915.
The 2nd Dragoon Guards were stationed at Aldershot, Hampshire when the regiment was mobilised in August 1914. The Queen’s Bays were a part of the 1st Cavalry Brigade, Cavalry Division which was renamed as the 1st Cavalry Division on the 16th September 1914. The regiment served with this Brigade and Division for the duration of the war.
