A 1914 Mons Star with clasp awarded to T-14231, (Saddler) Corporal Frederick George Holmes, who served with the Army Service Corps - it only became ‘Royal’ Army Service Corps in 1918.

Holmes arrived in France on 15/08/14, the Medal Index Card and the medal roll confirming the clasp can be viewed by clicking on here and on here, (if you have access to Ancestry), although a paper copy of the MIC will be provided with this listing.

I have not been able to locate any service records relating to this man, but his medal roll entry makes reference to the 1st Cavalry Field Ambulance. The ‘T’ in his service number means he was assigned to horse transport. He ended the war with the rank of Staff Sergeant.
